Hello everyone.I think Hung is the only one I know that uses a laptop for the game. I have a laptop i use at times and have been useing a hardwire to cable which is good enough for anyone but, it also has wireless and I have a wireless router here at home. It's a 'Netgear" 54 Mbps. I use it to get on the web and surf. Do whatever except log on the game. It goes to actual logging in on the game. I click on my char that I want to enter the game and then it's like it starts to log him in, but that's as far as it goes. It does nothing else. I think I may need a higher speed, like 300 Mbps wireless router. Is that correct? I guess I am just looking for info on what others have so I can get there too with my laptop and play elswhere in this house if I choose too.Any info on this would be appreciated.I am confident that I can play on my laptop via wirelessHmmm, I think I will copy this and post it over on Ashake's site and see what they know

You should be fine with the speed you have. I run my laptop beside my desktop via wireless router and COX service. You may have something in your firewall or security stopping the process at that point because it thinks something is wrong or something. do a quick try by temporarily turning your security off and trying to log in by logging as administrator and see what happens. I had a lot of headache with my new laptop due to Vista. If you are running XP or XP media center shouldn't be a prob it is something simple.

Yes Hung, I run my laptop next to my desktop both hardwire from cox cable. I have 3 seperate IP addresses so the speed to each is not an issue.  The wireless has it's own IP and as far as the security goes,Norton Antivirus on all comps.  I am running XP Pro on both systems and I thought I did turn off the Norton but maybe I didn't

I was going to check this now, but left my laptop at work   Hahahaha, aint I a dummy!  LOL

I will bring it home Monday and see what I can do from there.

Thanks for the info though

Dave I am unsure about netgear and their wireless. However, it sounds like you may need to unblock some of the security on the wireless side.

Well, I did all that I can think of.  Disabled my Norton. Allowed AC in the firewall.  Turned the firewall off.  Turnd to 'low' on the security on IE7.  Hmmm, I may be just missing one small simple thing or, mabye just won't take it.  When I go to log on, it fills the first vial blue indicating it's connected but the 2nd vial does nothing.  That's where it stops and as far as I get.  It seems to me it should be something in my Norton or something else like that what may be on my laptop.

Oh well, I'll just keep plugging along with it and see what I come up with.  I haven't had it on for a couple of weeks anyways, so no biggie, just when I do want to or can play it would be nice to use the laptop.

Okies, thanks all for the advise

On the wireless configuration on the router, is there a section for allowing certain ports through? If so, check turbine's site for the ports to open.

As odd as it seems, NetGear stuff seems to be the problem for some reason.  On the Turbine forums under tech support, you'll see tons of people posting with similar issues, and almost all of them have NetGear equipment. A couple friends on the East Coast were experiencing similar issues, one got a LinkSys router, the other a D-Link and the problems went away. Maybe a case of NetGear stuff does not want to play nicely with other stuff ... kinda like Vista not wanting to play nicely with many current software programs ...

Well, that's what I'll do. Ports first and if that don't work then off to Frye's Outpost!  My favorite store! LOL

Anyways, Last weekend headed up to Utah for a short 4 wheeling trip and this weekend off to Utah again but in the center of the state.  Fishing, 4 wheeling and fun!    Our campsite sits at 7,100' elevation.  Then we go up to 9,800' elevation on the 4 wheelers and back down to some nice mountain ponds with nice brook trout at about 8,000 foot elevation.  Snow still around the north sides of the ponds.  Really really nice!  I am going to try and post last years pic from one of them mountain ponds.

Guess I'll address this issue next week after our return.

If I don't get on again Wish you all the best for this coming weekend!

And Thanks for the help on this issue
